One Broken Mom: What Parents Need to Know About Teens & Bullying
Today, I have with me a repeat offender. Her name is Jax Anderson and she is The Psyko Therapist. Jax is a licensed professional counselor who has clinic in Wisconsin called A Beautiful Journey. She specializes in working with teenagers and their families and was ready to dole out some advice for parents regarding bullying.
"Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids who are bullied and who bully others may have serious, lasting problems that will span into adulthood. "
According to our friends at the US Department of Health and Human Services who run a website called StopBullying.gov, it’s estimated that about 20% of our kids are being bullied and less than half the time, they are not telling adult.
